In April, ARGANZ Rectal focus group members A/Prof Kirsten Gormly (Adelaide) and Dr Verity Wood (Christchurch) represented RANZCR in a global exchange partnership with ARRS at the annual meeting in Pittsburgh, USA.

They had the opportunity co-present with Prof Pasulati and Prof Costello from the Moffat Cancer Centre, Florida on rectal MRI.  Also to connect with many other US radiologists. Highlights included meeting Prof Joseph KT Lee, author of THE original CT body textbook who described the development of body CT in the 1980s, A/Prof Natally Horvat, rectal MRI clinician and researcher from Mayo Clinic, Rochester and A/Prof Bari Dane – Co chair of the SAR International relations committee.

Global Connections

Occurring two weeks after the ARGANZ meeting in Perth, which included a collaborative rectal MRI workshop with Prof Stephanie Nougaret from France, these endeavours strengthen the connection of ANZ Radiologists to the global abdominal imaging community.

This provides further opportunities for clinical and research collaboration, with tri-continental follow-up planned at the ESGAR meeting in June. It also displays the quality of ANZ radiology, and establishes connections for the wider ANZ abdominal community.  We thank RANZCR and ARRS for providing this opportunity.
