ESGAR 2026 Meeting – Montpellier, France
The ESGAR 2026 meeting, held from 9–12 June in the vibrant city of Montpellier, France, was a resounding success, drawing more than 1700 radiologists from across the globe. The comprehensive program offered an array of lectures, workshops, and case-based discussions tailored to different stages of practice, from early-career radiologists to advanced subspecialists. Australia and New Zealand were exceptionally well represented this year, with a strong contingent of 99 delegates, comprising 79 from Australia and 20 from New Zealand.
ARGANZ was proud to support the active participation of our regional talent at ESGAR once again. This year’s scientific program prominently featured seven exceptional speakers from Australia who shared their expertise across a diverse range of critical clinical topics.
- Dr Verity Wood –Imaging the unresectable? Radiologist role in surgical planning for pelvic exenteration
- Dr Jessica Yang –“From root to branch” – Exploring the intrahepatic biliary tree (moderator)
- Dr James Seow – “One case, three lessons”
- A/Prof Tom Sutherland – Should we always use non-contrast imaging in abdominal emergencies?
- Dr Mark Goodwin – Navigating from liver to rectum: an imaging tour of post-treatment changes
- A/Prof Kirsten Gormly – Rectal MRI: controversies and challenges in interpretation
- Dr Arj Somasundaram- Mimics of malignancy in the GI tract: inflammation, infection, and more
Beyond the lecture halls, the ARGANZ @ ESGAR 2026 dinner was a highlight of the week. It was a sold-out event with 60 delegates and partners gathered in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere to enjoy outstanding hospitality and cuisine in the South of France. It was a wonderful opportunity for colleagues from both sides of the Tasman to connect, share insights, and unwind together in one of Europe’s most beautiful historic cities.
The ESGAR meetings continue to be a foundation for high-level education, professional networking, and international collaboration, and we look forward to seeing everyone next year at ESGAR 2027 in Edinburgh!
