The British Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology Annual Meeting 2027 theme this year is, “Learning from the past, preparing for the future”, which reflects the balance between learning from experience and embracing the exciting opportunities ahead. For the first time, the BSGAR Annual Meeting will be both in person and live-streamed, extending access to colleagues who are unable to join us in person.

Throughout the meeting we will explore how reviewing our practice, from personal reflection to initiatives such as the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit and National Cancer Audit, can help us improve patient care. We look forward at the opportunities provided by new evidence, technologies and ways of working, from the impact of artificial intelligence and climate change to wellbeing and leadership. We have incorporated plenty of case-based learning, opportunities to reflect on challenging cases, and what promises to be a lively debate on the future of the radiology workforce. This year’s Richard Farrow Lecture, presented by Professor Harriet Gordon, President of the British Society of Gastroenterology, will explore the evolving relationship between our specialties and the opportunities for future collaboration.
Our trainees are the future of our specialty, and we are delighted to have an expanding number as BSGAR members. For the first time we are providing a dedicated parallel stream designed specifically for residents, Recognition of BSGAR Online Training (ROBOT) Live, bringing the hugely popular ROBOT virtual teaching programme to the annual meeting. These interactive sessions will feature some of our top ROBOT faculty, delivering case-based teaching across a range of topics.
